Used in a Dutch Irish hex sign design; a pair of Irish distlefinks (Irish because they're green, not the usual yellow) shower a shamrock with a "double measure" of happiness and good fortune.

When I was in Ireland in September, there were no distlefinks to be found. Probably some orange plot to create an artificial shortage and drive up prices in the notoriously volatile distlefink futures market.
